Holotropic Breathwork during the pandemic era

  • Yulia Meshoyrer • March 11, 2022 • 5 min read
Holotropic Breathwork is a technic of breathing, developed by Stan Grof and his wife Christina Grof in the late seventies. This powerful approach uses non – ordinary state, which Stan prefers to call Holotropic state (Holotropic means literally “moving toward wholeness”, from the Greek “Holos” = Whole and “Trepein” = Moving in the direction of something), for activating the natural inner healing process of the individual’s psyche, bringing him or her a particular set of internal experiences. When people are practicing Holotropic breathwork, laying down on the mat with their eyes closed, using their own breath and provocative music in the room, it is very important for us, certified facilitators, to provide a safe setting. “Set and setting” are the keywords for unfolding the personal experience. And using masks while we use the breath as a vehicle to the deepness of our psyche could provoke a profound amount of unnecessary sensations and even retraumatized vulnerable people.

As we open our doors again, we made sure to build a special Covid Protocol to support the health and wellbeing of our team members and every participant. We guarantee that holotropic space and all provided for personal use materials will be sanitized before each session. We ask all to stay home if you are feeling ill or have come in direct contact with someone feeling ill within two days before or on the morning of the event. In the case of illness, we return your money back within a week. We are also asking each participant to be vaccinated (this is mandatory) and kindly reminding them to be mindful at least three days before your holotropic workshop, minimizing contacts with other people and avoiding crowded spaces.

Let’s make our journey safe! And here are reminders of how to make it work:

  • Please wash/sanitize your hand frequently
  • Complete covid questionnaire form upon arrival
  • Always take good care of yourself!
